This episode of Heartsong Fit includes quite a variety. You’ll hear the early morning sounds of the farm as well as a train whistle late at night when a train passes as Vickie is talking about her experience doing the 21-day gentle cleanse, Ultimate Reset. She provides a few thoughts about her journey through Day 16 of the 21-day adventure. If you’d like to read more on the Ultimate Reset, you can find details at Vickie’s Beachbody websites: http://www.myultimatereset.com/heartsongfit or http://www.beachbodycoach.com/heartsongfit

Interview with Trainer Mo Amin
The main section of content in this episode is Vickie’s interview with Mo Amin, owner of Rhyno’s Gym in Lafayette, Indiana, and a fitness trainer. Mo talks about mixed martial arts and fitness, and the clientele of his gym. He and his staff have worked with quite a range of individuals from people who are just starting out on a fitness journey to wrestlers from Purdue University who are training in their off season, to John Fitch who has become famous in the UFC ranks. “Cardio is an important aspect of training that can go back and forth between fighting and just working on good fitness,” says Mo.

When Mo talks about fast food he says, “what is faster than what can be taken off the branch of a tree? I tell people to keep it simple. Select something that you can take off of a branch, wash it and eat it.”

If you are a person who tells yourself that you’re too busy to do a workout today, then you’ll want to hear Mo’s advice about how to keep fitness in your routine no matter how hectic your schedule becomes. “Be more worried about the shape you are in [how many push-ups you can do; how long you can walk, etc.] than worrying about weight. Weight will come off on its own [as you pay attention to the shape you are in],” Mo recommends.

WWII Memory of Lucille Maris | Blondie, the Cocker Spaniel, Comes Home From the War on a Ship
Lucille Maris, Vickie’s mom, talks about how she and Jim, her hubby (Vickie’s dad), acquired their Cocker Spaniel, Blondie, while Jim was flying a B-24 bomber out of England during World War II. After his 30 missions, they were stationed in Smyrna, Tennessee and lived in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Blondie couldn’t come home at the same time Jim returned to the U.S. Instead, Jim flew her to London where she stayed at a kennel, alongside the dog that belonged to General Eisenhower, waiting for a ride home on a ship. The butcher of the ship would need to agree to feed the dogs that would be passengers on the ship. Lucille tells of how she picked up Blondie from a train station and how the reunion of Blondie and Vickie’s dad made it into the local paper.
